In the latest 2015 UI Green Metric University Ranking, Taipei Tech ranked No.6 in the world and No.1 in Taiwan in the City Center category. This year, 407 universities from over 60 countries participated in the survey. The UI Green Metric University Ranking is the first and only ranking that ranks based on how environmental friendly is a university held by University of Indonesia since 2010.
It selected criteria that are generally considered to be of importance by universities concerned with sustainability. These include the collection of basic information of the size of the university and its zoning profile, whether urban, suburban, or rural. Beyond this they also take the degree of green space into consideration. The next category of information concerns with electricity consumption because of its link to our carbon footprint. In addition to information above, transportation, water usage, waste management, setting & infrastructure, energy & climate change, and education are all in the survey’s range. Beyond these indicators, how the university is responding to or dealing with the issues of sustainability through policies, actions, and communication are also important in forming the UI Green Metric University Rankings result.
